The Y-E-L Celebrity Community Champions are more than just well known names. They are high achieving individuals who have agreed to take part in our projects to inspire young people to also succeed.

 

Paterson Joseph – Actor

Paterson Joseph is the first celebrity to sign up to this new initiative.  He is a well respected British actor who has appeared in the Hollywood film The Beach alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and starred alongside Oscar winner Charlize Theron in Paramount Pictures’ Æon Flux.

Paterson has had a number of roles in British TV programmes.  These include the popular Alan Johnson in Peep Show and other mainstream shows such as Doctor Who, Green Wing, Jericho, That Mitchell and Webb Look, Dead Ringers, Hyperdrive, Neverwhere and in the BBC serial-drama Jekyll.  He also appeared in both the original stage production and TV version of Kwame Kwei-Armah’s acclaimed play Elmina’s Kitchen.  Paterson’s theatre credits include the title role in Othello, as well as parts in Henry IV, King Lear, and Hamlet for a performance in New York.

Paterson’s endorsement: “The Unlimited reach, breadth and daring of Y-E-L is inspiring and, ultimately, just the sort of initiative that is needed to bring young people to a place of understanding their potential and helping them to achieve, really achieve, their dreams. I have no problem in wholly endorsing what Y-E-L is all about.”
